I saw a great pin on Pinterest for closet organization. I can't seen to be able to put the picture from the original post on here but you can find it be following this link. So here's what my jewelry looked like before hanging in the closet:
Not bad, I had used command bring hooks to hang up my necklaces. And it worked. But it wasn't really pretty and it was hard to see them all because they were layered on top of each other.
So this is were you'll have to forgive me. this is my first blog post and I forgot to take pictures of each stage. Sorry. I will do better, give me a chance PLEASE!!
What you will need for this project:
-1 wood dowel (I used 1/2 inch and it's a bit to big I think. I wanted it sturdy though)
-cup hooks- the number depends on the number of rod you will want/need.Here is what I got:
I used the yellow, they're smaller. In case you're interested.
-a picture frame that is the size you want (duh I know) I used an 8x10. I bought mine at the dollar store because I was being cheap. I would not do it again and in fact will probably replace it soon. You really need one a bit sturdier to support the wire mesh
-wire mesh. Ok so here again I will give you a heads up. This mesh is call hardware sheeting. At least thats what they called it at Ace Hardware. It should be with the chicken wire and they will cut it for you. I think they would have cut the sizeI wanted had I asked, but I didn't because knew I could cut it at home. Also I got the 1/8" square figuring that it would fit the hanging part of my earrings fine. And it does, but if you have those little stoppers on your earrings it does not fit those, which I do on most mine. So get the 1/4".
So that is what you'll need. Pop out the glass and back of your frame and replace with the mesh. I put it in nice and snug where the glass would be then put in A LOT of hot glue. Next time I will use a nicer frame and will probably try to staple it.
Then figure out where you what our frame. I would do this first because then you know how long to cut your dowel. I painted my dowel white to look pretty. Any color will do, or don't paint it! But I think the white looks nice. Measure out your holes, making sure that they are placed about 1" in from the end of your dowel. AndI really encourage you to try to be level! I used a level when penciling in dot on my wall for the holes. Boy I really wish I had taken pictures of this for you guys. Forgive me. Insert your anchors in the holes (they should be snug) an then your cup hooks. OH! another thing I bought 1/2" dowel and 3/4" cup hooks thinking it would fit easily. It did not, so test yours out. I also hung my necklaces on the dowels to figure out how many I wanted and what lengths and such. I hung the rod/dowel for the bracelets last so I would not get it trouble with my necklaces hanging over the bracelets. Finished project:
SO nice. Now I can see all my jewelry at one glance. I do want to add a shelf too like she did on her wall, butI need to find one that will fit my corner. I hope you are inspired to spruce up your space!
